CTLC management training & tools knowledgebase

Description: The Global Support Center will offer a knowledgebase that allows the sharing of training and tools among CTLC operators around the world. The database will provide CTLC operators with the essential training and tools necessary to effectively manage their CTLCs in areas such as finance, sustainable business planning, fundraising and ICT support. Content for the knowledgebase will be acquired by the GSN using RSNs and content partners. The content will be provided free of charge for all members of the Global Support Network.

Impact: Having access to relevant training material and toolkits will help CTLCs carry out their daily operations and achieve their mission. Allowing members to post and exchange success stories and best practices will enable CTLC operators to leverage each other’s hands-on experience to solve specific problems.

Management

The GSC will be incorporated as a nonprofit organization governed by a Board of Directors and led by an Executive Director. Along with the Executive Director, the Directors of Technology, Operations and Programs, and Information and Research constitute the senior management team and will be responsible for building partnerships, maintaining the technology platform and fundraising for the GSC. Additional program staff is forecasted to grow to nine people over five years to effectively execute the strategy

Where a society wants to evolve from a command to a market economy, the challenges presented to individual enterprises can be daunting. All economies face the same fundamental issues of responsible business conduct—product quality, transparency in financial matters, orkplace health and safety, protection of the nvironment, protection of workers, and compliance with laws and industry standards. However, they are magnified in both degree and kind when an entire society is making a rapid evolution toward a market economy.

CTLC technology services

Description: The GSN will provide live, in-person technology services offered through a contracted provider in a particular region. The GSN will also provide an online technical support and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) site where CTLC operators can find answers to technical questions, post questions, or answer posted questions. The site will be populated by relevant content gathered by GSN technology agents during their in-person visits to CTLCs. All online and offline technology services will be funded initially by the GSC and provided free of charge to member CTLCs. In the future, the GSC will evaluate the service and may design a fee-for-service model according to the needs of CTLCs in various regions.

Impact: Giving CTLCs access to an automated and reliable technical support solution will reduce their downtime and help keep their organizations operational. Technology agent visits to CTLCs will resolve complex technical problems and give CTLC operators a chance to gain the knowledge needed to develop self-sufficiency and build capacity to solve future problems on their own.
